Today, Sirga and Layla are finally living the life they once had to imagine—building their family, their dreams, and SIAJ Publications together.
Sirga — The Yang
Charismatic, commanding, passionate, and unapologetically confident, Sirga has never been a man who quietly fades into the background. After spending nearly two decades in federal prison, he refused to allow his circumstances—or the words written about him in court documents—to have the final say over who he would become.
Even behind prison walls, his mind remained free. He wrote, created, dreamed, studied, challenged himself, and constantly searched for ways to build something greater than the life he had known before. His past is not something he runs from; it is part of the fire that fuels the man he has become.
Today, Sirga carries that same larger-than-life energy into a different purpose. His mission is to turn experience into impact and show that transformation is possible—even when the odds say otherwise. He isn't interested in pretending his past never happened. He would rather stand confidently in both truths: who he was and who he fought to become.
Layla — The Yin
Charismatic, loving, funny, and fiercely protective of her energy, Layla is a woman grounded above all else in her faith in God. Through every season, every decision, and every unexpected turn, her faith has remained the foundation she leans on. When she looks back at the journey that brought her here, she sees God’s grace throughout it. After spending 14 years in law enforcement, Layla took a chance on a love that challenged her to look beyond labels, circumstances, and the opinions of others. Loving Sirga became more than part of their love story—it became part of Layla’s own transformation, strengthening her faith and showing her just how resilient she could be. During COVID, Layla made the life-changing decision to leave her law-enforcement career and relocate with her son to North Carolina, all while continuing to support Sirga and prepare for the future they believed was possible. During that season, she also stepped into entrepreneurship and founded SIAJ Publications Inc., creating a new path for herself while helping bring their ideas and stories to life.
When the Future Finally Arrived
“They were finally living it."
In 2023, the future Sirga and Layla had spent years imagining finally began to take shape. After nearly two decades in federal prison, Sirga was released and returned home to Brooklyn, New York. Layla and her son moved back to Brooklyn, and after years of loving one another through prison walls, phone calls, letters, visits, distance, and uncertainty, they finally had the opportunity to live together as a family.
One of the most beautiful parts of that new chapter was watching the relationship between Sirga and her son grow. Sirga embraced him with love and became an amazing father to him, showing that family is about far more than biology.
Then, in 2024, their journey came full circle with a blessing neither of them could have imagined years earlier—the birth of their son, Sirga’s first biological child. Layla had already watched Sirga embrace her older son as his own but seeing him experience fatherhood from the very beginning brought a new kind of joy into their home. After all the years of planning a future through prison walls, they were no longer talking about the family they hoped to build someday. " They were finally living it."
